When I tell people I'm flirting with 30, they tell me I look like I'm in college and I have the energy of a pre-adolescent. Well, that's good because did you know there are 195 countries in this world? My goal is to travel to as many countries as my age. My current count? 14. Yikes. Better get jetsettin'! Read More

Travel Gifts: The Perfect Gift Guide for a Traveler

Travel Gift: - Perfect Gifts for Travelers | What to buy a traveler

As a traveler living out of a 60L backpack, I’ve convinced myself that I’m a minimalist. As I walk by boutique shops in new cities, and my eyes lock with a new gadget or cute stationary, I chant to myself, Emily, you don’t need that. You have no room for that. Keep walking. Don’t stop…

I wish I could say I don’t need any of the cutest trends or shiny toys, but secretly I’m hoping my fiancé is reading this in case he is feeling extra generous this year. (Hi, Chris!). The thing is, as a traveler, there are always products that can make our journey more pleasant or convenient.

I’ve compiled a Gift Guide for Travelers but it is really an essentials guide as these travel gifts are practical. If you’re stuck on what to get your loved one, check it out!

1) Kindle E-Reader, 6” Touchscreen with Wi-Fi

For those long commutes and flights, you’ll wish you were reading the latest novels. Kindle has immediate download and storage options so you don’t need to worry about being bookless. For tips on how to get free e-Books legally, check out this link for free apps you must download.

2. I’m Outta Here Passport by ban.do

There are a lot of really great designs and passports are one size fits all regardless of which country you’re from!

3. Zoppen Multi-purpose Rfid Blocking Passport Wallet Organizer Holder

Looking for something with more pockets and organization? This wallet is really cute and functional. Best of all, you can hide your passport in the one of many compartments!

4. FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 Camera Bundle Kit

With 7 different colors to choose from, pick your loved ones favorite and surprise them with this amazing set so they can capture and frame all of their travel memories.

5. Sony a6000 Camera Kit

OK. This is a splurge. But if you are looking for the best camera out there I really think this is it! I love this camera and shoot 95% of my photos with it (other 5% is iPhone). It’s astonishing how much punch it is for being so compact, lightweight, and easy it is to use. This is the ultimate kit – I don’t even have all of these accessories. This is for someone who has been extra nice this year!

6. Scratch the World Map

I love this gift idea. My friend gave me one before I departed on my adventure and I remember thinking, “I can’t wait to come home and see all of the countries I can mark off!” So far, I’m at 14 countries but it would be really neat to scratch off every single corner of this map! #goals

7. HiDay 7 Set Waterproof Packing Cube – 3 Travel Cubes + 3 Pouches + 1 Shoe Bag

Packing and unpacking everyday can not only get tiring, it can get really unorganized. I really like this set because travel cubes keep everything much more tolerable and efficient. You need socks? Pull out the socks pack. Don’t want dirty shoes touching clean clothes? Look at that shoe bag!

8. Brita 20 Ounce Sport Water Bottle with Filter

This will not only make your loved one healthier and remain hydrated, they will thank you once they realize how much money they are saving with it! While traveling in Europe, many restaurants only serve bottled waters. The nice thing about these bottles is you can fill them up in the numerous fountains all over town and opt out of requesting a drink on your bill. Or you can just order wine and beer. 🙂 Free water = yes, please!

9. BESTEK International 220V to 110V Converter Travel Adapter with Interchangeable Worldwide

When your loved one realizes they have enough juice to text you in the middle of then night thanks to you and your practical gift, you will indeed get a big, ‘Thank You!’. We have pretty much used this everyday in every country thanks to the various adapters it comes with. With 8 charging ports, we are never fighting over the outlet and are always charged!

10. Osprey Packs Meridian 60L/22″ Wheeled Luggage

I can’t recommend this bag enough. The countless organizers and zippers and hidden compartments are so practical. On top of that, we haven’t had to pay for any check in bags on flights as this has met all carry on requirements. Further, we haven’t broke our back because this backpack has wheels and a stroller! Winning!

11. Pretty much anything on MochiThings

I’m obsessed with planners, stationary, and cute pens. This website has seriously got me wanting to buy everything they release. Best of all, their planners often come dateless, meaning you don’t need to buy one in December/January to get the full utilization out of it! They also have a ton of cute travel compartments. You will have to see for yourself but here are a few of my favorites!

What’s on your gift wishlist this year?

xo,

Emily

Glad you see some things you like! Some of these items have been true lifesavers… others are just so cute. 🙂

Packing cubes!! I really need to get some… I keep being cheap and separating but using plastic bags, haha.
I’m really tempted to get a professional camera like the one you have above. As of right now, 100% of my photos are taking on my iPhone but it can be hard to capture good pictures sometimes.
Great list. If anyone asks what I want this Christmas, I’ll send them this!

Lol you’re too cute Noelle! Yeah the packing cubes are a game changer. iPhone has a really great camera actually, but the Sony Alpha is super light in comparison to a lot and has great lenses. Let me know what you get this Christmas ! Haha

I bought that map a few months ago but waiting to start scratching. I just had it mounted so I can hang it in our new house and don’t want to remove the plastic film til the move is over! Great ideas on this post!

Oooo so cool take a picture when you have started scratching away. 🙂 I’m sad mine will look like ‘first world countries’ google images. Need to make my way through places less wandered!
