When I tell people I'm flirting with 30, they tell me I look like I'm in college and I have the energy of a pre-adolescent. Well, that's good because did you know there are 195 countries in this world? My goal is to travel to as many countries as my age. My current count? 14. Yikes. Better get jetsettin'! Read More

Wrigley Mansion Tour – Free Things to Do in Phoenix, AZ

Wrigley Mansion – Free Tour in Phoenix, AZ

It’s true when they say you see more as a tourist than a local! I can’t believe I’ve lived in Phoenix all these years and just recently visited the Wrigley Mansion for the first time.

To all the romantics, you have go on the tour, followed by happy hour! It’s a beautiful venue with charming history.

What is Wrigley Mansion?

Wrigley Mansion is a romantic story in itself. In 1932, William Wrigley Jr. (yes, the chewing gum mogul) designed and had this estate constructed for his wife as a 50th anniversary gift. The traditional anniversary gift is supposed to be gold, but hey, I’ll take a mansion, too!

At the top of this Phoenix hill, you can see 360 views of the great Phoenix metro area including the skylines from midtown and downtown. I recommend staying for sunset as it’s rare to find this type of view without having to climb up Camelback Mountain.

The mansion was later bought by the canned chill and food mogul, Geordie Hormel. His wife currently runs the property for the public to see. It’s turned into a private country club as well as a wedding and events venue. There is also a restaurant called Geordie’s Steak Restaurant (very cool as the former library is now the bar area) and they offer patio seating for happy hour and Sunday brunch buffet.

What is worth seeing at the Wrigley Mansion?

Outside of the exterior, it’s really neat to walk through this house. You can see historic documents and photos from 1930s. The Wrigley Mansion also holds a very expensive and old rare piano, one of two in the world (the other is in the Smithsonian museum). This is the only one that is still operating today and you can actually listen to it play on the tour.

The tour walks you through each of the handcrafted areas of the house, and you can hear the love story and how considerate Mr. Wrigley was to his wife! She is truly present throughout the house as can be seen by customized decor and craftsmanship accommodating her physical nature and personal characteristics.

When is the best time to visit the Wrigley Mansion?

For the free tour, call and make a reservation for any Tuesday. They usually hold several tour times throughout the day so grab your friends and get ready for a 45-minute tour. I would recommend the 2:00pm or 4:00pm tours so you can take advantage for the 3-6pm happy hour afterwards.

Have I mentioned their happy hour prices are great? Half off appetizers and drinks! I’ll take 3 of each mmmkay thanks.

If you can’t make it Tuesday, they do offer lunch tour packages on other days of the week starting at $25 or individually guided tours from $15. Visit their website to make reservations.

Where is Wrigley Mansion?

They are located at 2501 E. Telawa Trail, Phoenix, AZ 85016. When you arrive, they have valet or you can self park.

I can’t wait to visit Wrigley Mansion again. On my Instagram story, one of my friends thought I was in Disneyland. Another asked if I was wedding venue shopping. Hehehe… one day! 🙂

Have you been to any of the other Wrigley properties throughout the U.S.?

This is a great recommendation! One of my 2017 goals is to enjoy more local sightseeing opportunities, instead of always leaving town for adventure. It always surprises me how much there is to do in “my own backyard”.
